Buhl, Idaho
Buhl_montage (383k image)
Three skateboard shaped benches around the Buhl skatepark had nice pipe edges with skatestoppers on one side. Someone claimed the localkids occasionally unbolt them and turn them around. mc says the cradle is this big. Shawn F goes frontside through that thing, Dave frontside airs. There is a little skateshop adjacent to the skatepark. A kid was dropping into the big wall, hitting the cradle back to the big wall, flopping onto his board on his belly on the wall and riding backwards up the cradle and down again. Watch me mommy! Ryan Haas goes backside through the cradle.

Idaho Road Trip
Idaho (145k image)
Damn, there is some great stuff to skate in Idaho. Here’s what I had on my phone by way of photos. My film is being processed. Dave Sparr and I left Portland last Tuesday at noon. First stop was Dreamland’s Kuna (top left) a little park but very fun. a mini ramp section and a snake run into a bowl. Spine in the small section, lots of hips. Then on to Buhl home of the world's largest cradle. That sucker is big too. Dave is standing on the drain in this photo. The bottom two shots are Hailey which is incredible. The wall on the left is opposite the side of the full-pipe and is 14 feet tall – ten foot transition and four feet of vert. The bowl at the bottom right is 12 or so feet deep, ten foot tranny with two feet of vert. It’s about fifty feet long from that hip to the end of the bowl. Dropping from the top of the full-pipe and blasting trough that bowl is one of the fastest runs I’ve ever done. We also skated Ketchum a couple of times but I didn’t get it with the phone cam. Six days of skating and camping. More soon.

Mega Ramp Mexico
DWay-backflip (26k image) I thought rolling in off the pipe at Hailey last week was pretty sick (more to come on that as soon as I get my photos back). I come home and find this gnarly video from the Danny Way site in my mailbox. Backflip and frontflip over the gap, huge Kagy bmx stuff, crazy bails. Thanks for stepping it up beyond belief you bastards. Forwarded by JF.

Road trip!
Off on an Idaho skate junket this morning through the weekend. I'll post if I can, but I doubt I'll be able to. If you’re in Portland, Oregon, don’t miss the West Linn Park Slalom on Saturday. More details at Wally Inouye’s site.

A Happy Fathers Day
Pool (69k image) After breakfast out with visiting family, I skated West Linn with new dad Tom Miller as well as Smay, Troy Sliter and a couple of other dudes. We tried to get Sonny out but he wasn’t feeling the skatepark thing and made me call another guy who hooked us up with some backyard action. Really generous since they did all the work draining and cleaning the thing out this week. Damn. Best… Fathers Day… ever.

Climbing the walls
DaveS-nike (124k image) I have always prided myself on being able to ride high up a wall but you know, there’s always a tougher man. skater: Dave Sparr.
