From the introduction:
Maybe it’s an acquired taste. I have met people who thought black and white movies were a waste of their hard-won color televisions. There is conception that full-color printing is deluxe that b/w is cheesy or lazy. when in truth, it’s a lot of work to create tonality in black and white drawings. why should I color them up? Do my readers feel like I am not respectful enough of their high-status fuLl-color computer monitors that show them to be superior to the average guy? Should I also use more adjectives in the text?
The book collects 107 comics that originally appeared in black and white or might as well have. Here’s a chance to buy a cheap edition while maintaining a stance of aesthetic sophistication. There’s also an even cheaper pdf ebook version.
